after first cut, area is x-40/100x = 0.6x

after second cut, area is 50% of area of first cut = 0.5(0.6)x = 0.3x

given, final area ( area after second cut) = 0.6x-30

0.3x = 0.6x -30

0.3x = 30

x = 100 cm²
