In 1921 Dayaram Sahni, an archaeologist, discovered the ruins of Harappa on the bank's of the river Ravi in the Montgomery district of western Punjab(now in Pakistan). In 1922-23, R.D.Banerjee, an officer of the Archaeological Survey of India, stumbled upon the remains of as n ancient city in Mohenjo-Daro , on the river Indus in the Larkana district of Sindh(now Pakistan).
