Answer:

1) Menstruation, or period, is normal vaginal bleeding that occurs as part of a woman's monthly cycle. Every month, your body prepares for pregnancy. If no pregnancy occurs, the uterus, or womb, sheds its lining. The menstrual blood is partly blood and partly tissue from inside the uterus.

i) The primary hormone produced from the corpus luteum is progesterone, but it also produces inhibin A and estradiol. In the absence of fertilization, the corpus luteum will regress over time.

ii) The lining of the uterus is regrown during each menstrual cycle. Menstrual bleeding typically continues for 3-5 days in what is known as the menstrual phase of the cycle. Between 50-150ml of blood is released during this period.

iv) In the menstrual cycle, changes take place in both ovaries and uterus(womb). These changes arise due to the change in the levels of pituitary hormones (follicle stimulating hormone & Luetinising hormone) that induce changes in the ovarian hormones (estrogen and Progesterone).

v) Morphologically the endometrial glands are best developed and most active during early human pregnancy. The glands gradually regress over the first trimester, but still communicate with the intervillous space until at least 10 weeks
