ANSWER.
- α² + β² = 15.25
SOLUTION.
Given -
→ f(x) = 2x² + 7x - 3
Comparing with ax² + bx + c = 0, we get,
→ a = 2
→ b = 7
→ c = -3
We know that,
→ α + β = -b/a and,
→ αβ = c/a
Here,
→ α + β = -(7)/2 = -7/2
→ αβ = c/a = -3/2
Therefore,
α² + β²
= (α + β)² - 2αβ
= (-7/2)² - 2 × (-3/2)
= 49/4 + 6/2
= (49 + 12)/4
= 61/4
= 15.25 Which is our required answer.
