Hi there,
The question given is incomplete. I have rewritten the question for you and solved it accordinly. Hope this is helpful.:)
Q. Length and breadth of a bulletin board are r cm and t cm respectively
(i) What will be the length in centimetres of aluminium strip required to frame the board, if 10 cm extra strip is required to fix it properly?
(ii) If x rays are used to repair one board. How many nails will be required to repair 15 such boards ?
(iii) If 510 square cm cloth for board is required to cover the edges, what will be the total area of the cloth required to cover 8 such boards?
(iv) What will be the expenditure for making 23 boards if carpenter charges Rs. X per board?
Given:
The length and breadth of the bulletin board are "r" cm and "t" cm respectively.
To find:
(i) What will be the length in centimetres of aluminium strip required to frame the board, if 10 cm extra strip is required to fix it properly?
(ii) If x nails are used to repair one board. How many nails will be required to repair 15 such boards ?
(iii) If 510 square cm cloth per board is required to cover the edges, what will be the total area of the cloth required to cover 8 such boards?
(iv) What will be the expenditure for making 23 boards if carpenter charges Rs. X per board?
Solution:
(i) Finding the length of the aluminium strip required to frame the board:
To find the length of the aluminium strip that is required to frame the board we will have to first find the perimeter of the bulletin board.
So, the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle is given by,
Perimeter = 2 × [Length + Breadth]
∴ Perimeter of the bulletin board will be given by,
= [2 ×{r + t}] cm
Since an extra 10 cm aluminium strip is used to fix it properly
∴ The the length in centimetres of aluminium strip required to frame the board will be = [2(r + t) + 10] cm
(ii) Finding the no. of nails required to repair 15 such boards:
No. of nails required to repair 1 board = x
∴ No. of nails required to repair 15 such boards = 15x
(iii) Finding the total area of cloth required to cover 8 such boards:
We know that the formula of an area of a rectangle is
Area = Length × Breadth
So, using the formula, we get
Area of 1 board = r × t = rt cm²
Since an extra 510 cm² cloth is required to cover the edges of each board
∴ Area of cloth required to cover 1 board = [rt + 510] cm²
∴ The total area of the cloth required to cover 8 such boards will be,
= [8 × {rt + 510}] cm²
(iv) Finding the expenditure for making 23 such boards:
The carpenter charges Rs. X per board
Since the for making 1 board the carpenter will be using aluminium strip to frame the board, nails to repair the board and cloth to cover the board. For all these he is charging Rs. X per board.
∴ For making 23 such boards, the expenditure will be = Rs. 23X
