Answer: The poet regretted his action of throwing a wooden log at the harmless snake that was retreating to its hole harmlessly.  

b) Why does the poet consider his education to be accursed?

Answer: The poet considers his education to be accursed because it made him more confused. The voice of education stirred the poet’s fear of the snake. It provoked him to throw a log after it. The poet did it out of fearful instincts. Though he regretted it later as the snake was quite harmless. It was neither poisonous nor attacking the poet. It was just returning to its hole.
