Angelou concludes her story by writing about the importance of the African American artistic tradition. Do some research on the writers, musicians, and other artists of this tradition, then select one person and write a short piece on him or her in the light of Angelou view point. How is this person work informed by African American history? Does it reflect the "dedication" Angelou cites? If the work does not do what Angelou describes, then has it in some way failed? Consider the assumptions behind this question.
