Once a young boy lived with his family in a farming community. This young boy was naughty and mischievous with a hairline trigger short-temper. He ran into a lot of issues due to his short temper. He wanted to get some help to address this problem. He reached out to his dad for help.

His father referred to a nice painting on the wall with a wooden frame. He flipped the painting and showed the wooden board to his son.

“Son, for every day you feel angry, you hit a nail in this board”.

The son agreed and started nailing the board each time he lost his temper. To his surprise, he was seeing a trend in the form of reduced anger, as he felt it was difficult to nail the board in lieu of feeling angry.

After a while, his nailing stopped totally and he reached out to his dad for advice on next steps.

“Son, please remove a nail for each day you are didn’t get angry”

The son obliged and followed the rule. Eventually he ran out to nails to remove. He reached out to his dad. His dad took him to the wooden board and flipped the board. What the son saw was a painting full of holes compared to the original painting put on the wooden frame.

“Son, you did an excellent job managing your anger. However, what you did when you were angry has caused an irreparable damage. Please remember this forever. Do not say or do things when you are angry that you will regret. For these actions cause long term damages”.

The son understood the concept and followed it through.
