Angle ABC is 3x Angle BAC is 4x Angle ACB is 40° Angle ACD is y. Find the values of X and y. Please give explanation as well.​

Here,

  • Angle ABC = 3x
  • Angle BAC = 4x
  • Angle ACB = 40°
  • Angle ACD = y

To Find: Value of (y) and (x).

We know,

The sum of opposite interior angles is equal to the value of the exterior angle.

Thus,

BAC + ABC = ACD

or, 4x + 3x = y

or, 7x = y

or, x = y/7 ...(Eq. N)

Also,

ACD + ACB = 180° (Linear Pair)

or, y + 40° = 180°

or, y = 180° - 40°

or, y = 140°

Continuing from Eq. N,

x = y/7

or, x = 140°/7

or, x = 20°.

Thus,

  • x = 20° &
  • y = 140°.
