Angle of deviation of a light ray is the angle between the light ray emerging out of a isosceles triangular prism and the incident ray on to the prism.
Angle of minimum deviation is the angle of deviation when the refracted ray inside the triangular prism is parallel to the base and the angles of incidence and emergence are equal. Also the two angles of refraction and incidence inside the prism are equal.
Formula = D = (μ - 1) A
μ = refractive index of glass and A = angle of the prism.
It is usually between 1 and 15 deg. for a small angle prism.
