Solution :

Let x , y are two linear pair ,

x + y = 180° -----( 1 )

y - 3x = 20 ------( 2 )

Subtract ( 2 ) from ( 1 ), we get

4x = 160°

=> x = 160°/4

=> x = 40°

Put x = 40° in ( 1 ), we get

=> 40° + y = 180°

=> y = 180° - 40°

=> y = 140°

Therefore ,

( x , y ) = ( 40° , 140° )
