Solution :-

Let us assume that, angles of given ∆ are x, x and 2x in measure .

So,

→ x + x + 2x = 180°

→ 4x = 180°

→ x = 45° .

then angles of given ∆ are 45° , 45° and 90° . Therefore, it is a isosceles right angled ∆ .

now, given that,

→ Length of one smallest side (say base) = 4 cm

so,

→ Length of other side (say perpendicular) = 4 cm { since it is an isosceles ∆. }

therefore,

→ Area of ∆ = (1/2) * Perpendicular * Base

→ Area of ∆ = (1/2) * 4 * 4

→ Area of ∆ = 8 cm² (Ans.)

Hence, the area of the triangle is 8 cm².
