we know that the sum of all angles of a triangle is 180 ⁰

so,

2x + 3x + 4x = 180

9x = 180

x = 180/9

x = 20

2x = 2 x 20 = 40

3 x 20 = 60

4 x 20 = 80

so smallest angle is 40
