Given:

Number of red marbles = 5

Number of white marbles = 8

Number of green marbles = 4

Total number of Marbles in a bag = 5 + 8 + 4 = 17

Total number of outcomes= 17

(i)  Let E1 be the event of selecting a red marble

Number of outcomes favourable E1(Red)= 5

Required Probability of red marbles P(E1) = 5/17

(ii)

Let E2 be the event of selecting a white marble

Number of outcomes favourable E2(white)= 8

Required Probability of white marbles P (E2) = 8/17

(iii) Let E3 = event of selecting a not green marble

= Event of drawing either red or white marble

Number of outcomes favourable to  E3(not green)= 5+8=13

Required Probability of taken out not a green marble P(E3) = 13/17

Hope this will help you.......
