Correct Question :- Anil had a certain amount with him. He spent 25% of that to buy a new music player and 10% of the remaining on buying a clock. Then he donated Rs. 200 to the charity. If he is left with Rs. 1,500, how much did he buy the clock for ?

Solution :-

Let us assume total amount anil has was Rs.100x .

so,

→ Spent on buying a music player = 25% of 100x = (25 * 100x)/100 = Rs.25x .

now,

→ Left amount = 100x - 25x = Rs.75x .

now,

→ Spent on buying clock = 10% of 75x = (10 * 75x)/100 = Rs.7.5x .

so,

→ Left amount = 75x - 7.5x = Rs.67.5x .

now,

→ Donated amount = Rs.200 .

then,

→ Left amount = Rs.(67.5x - 200)

A/q,

→ 67.5x - 200 = 1500

→ 67.5x = 1500 + 200

→ 67.5x = 1700

→ x ≈ Rs. 25.16

therefore,

→ Spent on buying clock = 7.5x = 7.5 * 25.16 = Rs.188.7 (Ans.)
