Answer :-

  • Vidhi covers more distance.

To find :-

  • The person who covers more distance.

Step-by-step explanation :-

  • Here, we will find the perimeter of the square field and rectangular field instead of the area since Anil and Vidhi run around them.

----------------------------------------

Finding the perimeter of the square field and the distance covered by Anil :-

We know that :-

\underline{\boxed{\sf Perimeter \: of \: a\: square = 4 \times Side}}

Here,

  • Side = 60 m.

Hence,

\tt Perimeter = 4 \times 60

Multiplying 4 with 60,

\overline{\boxed{\tt Perimeter = 240 \: m}}

Now,

  • The perimeter of the square field is 240 m, which means that Anil covers 240 m after running 1 time around the field.

It has been given that :-

  • Anil runs 4 times around the square field.

Therefore,

  • The distance covered by him = 240 × 4 = 960 m.

----------------------------------------

Finding the perimeter of the rectangular field and the distance covered by Vidhi :-

We know that :-

\underline{\boxed{\sf Perimeter \: of\: a \:rectangle = 2\: (L + B)}}

Here,

  • Length = 180 m.
  • Breadth = 110 m.

Hence,

\tt Perimeter = 2 \: (180 + 110)

Adding the numbers inside the brackets,

\tt Perimeter = 2 \: (290)

Removing the brackets,

\tt Perimeter = 2 \times 290

Multiplying 2 with 290,

\overline{\boxed{\tt Perimeter = 580 \: m}}

Now,

  • The perimeter of the rectangular field is 580 m, which means that Vidhi covers 580 m after running 1 time around the field.

It has been given that :-

  • Vidhi runs 3 times around the rectangular field.

Therefore,

  • The distance covered by her = 580 × 3 = 1740 m.

----------------------------------------

Finding the person who covered more distance :-

It is clear that :-

  • 1740 m > 960 m.

Hence,

  • Vidhi covers more distance.

Given:

Riya runs around a square field of side 85 m and Ajay runs around a rectangular field of length 180 m and breadth 110 m.

We have to find:

Who covers more distance and by how much.

Distance covered is nothing but the perimeter of the square/rectangular field.

Hence,

Distance covered by Riya = perimeter of the square field

We know that,

Perimeter of a square = 4 * length of any side.

Hence,

Distance covered by Riya = 4*85

→ Distance covered by Riya = 340 m

Similarly,

Distance covered by Ajay = Perimeter of the rectangular field

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length + breadth).

→ Distance covered by Ajay = 2(180 + 110)

→ Distance covered by Ajay = 2(290)

→ Distance covered by Ajay = 580 m

On comparing the distances covered by both , we can say that Ajay covered more distance.

Now,

Difference between the distances covered = 580 m - 340 m

→ Difference between the distances covered = 240 m

Hence, Ajay covered more distance than Riya by 240 m.
