Anil started from home and travelled 40km towards east and 20km towards north.

Find the distance and displacement.

Answer

Total distance = 40+20 km = 60 km

Since north and east are perpendicular to each other

Let displacement be x

x^2 = 20^2 + 40^2 \\x = \sqrt{400+1600}= \sqrt{2000} = \sqrt{400X 5}= 20\sqrt{5}m
