Aniline is considered more stable:

  • Aniline is more stable than Anilinium because it is known that the number of the canonical structures are present, the more the stability of the compound.
  • Secondly, the Anilinium ion has a positively charged ion.
  • There it is more readily available for reacting in order to lose a proton which is not the case in Aniline.
  • Moreover, the presence of the lone pair in the Aniline makes it a contender for obtaining a proton from other molecules which why it is a weaker base.
  • All these things signify that Aniline is more basic and stable than Anilinium.
