no it is not true because the plants can also survive and grow for a fixed period of time maybe some days or some years but they do not grow throughout their life.

This is because an animal's sole purpose to live is to procreate in order to continue the existence of it's species ,whereas plants don't have a sole purpose like this they grow taller with no specific purpose

Keep in mind that animals are complex and intelligent whereas plants aren't.
