To make silk, the cocoon of the silk worm is boiled in water and as a result the worms die in the process of making silk. Hence, animal activists are against it. Since artificial silk is not as fine as natural silk, an alternate way is suggested which is called a non-violent way of making silk. In this method the worm escapes as cocoon is cut. However, it affects the length of the fiber produced.
