Anions are due the addition of electrons to neutral atom .It increases electron density and thus repulsive force between electrons are morecompared to nuclear force . Hence the size of the anion will be greater thanits neutral atom.If size increases then definitely radius also increases.

Because the effective nuclear charge will be less for anion than a neutral atom

Explanation:

Atomic radii is the distance from the center of the nucleus to the valence shell.

Anion is formed by gain of an electron. Thus anion will always have more electrons than protons. The nuclear charge is same for both anion and a neutral atom and thus same number of protons present in the nucleus can not influence greater electrons towards itself, the effective nuclear charge decreases, the valence electrons are less tightly held by the nucleus and thus the size increases.
