Answer: The number of books is 15 and Price of each book is Rs. 4.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the price of each book be 'y'.

Let the number of books be 'x'.

Total amount Anirudh has = Rs. 60

According to question,

Anirudh bought some books for Rs.60

60=xy----------(1)

he bought 5 more books for the some amount each book would have cost him 1 rupee less.

60=(x+5)(y-1)-----------(2)

From eq(1) and (2), we get,

xy=xy+5y-x-5\\\\x-5y+5=0\\\\Put\ y=\frac{60}{x}\\\\x-5(\frac{60}{x})+5=0\\\\x^2+5x-300=0\\\\x^2+20x-15x-300=0\\\\x(x+20)-15(x+20)=0\\\\(x+20)(x-15)=0\\\\x=15,-20

Negative number must be discarded.

Hence, the number of books is 15.

Price of each book is given by

\frac{60}{15}=4
