Given :- Anish bought 8 chewing gum for a rupee. How many for a rupee must he sell to gain 60% ?

Answer :-

→ cost of 8 chewing gum = Rs.1

so,

→ cost of 1 chewing gum = Rs.(1/8) .

now,

→ Gain = 60%

then,

→ SP of 1 chewing gum = CP * (100 + gain%)/100 = (1/8) * (160/100) = (1/8) * (8/5) = Rs.(1/5)

therefore,

→ In Rs.1 he sold chewing gum = 1/(1/5) = 1 * 5 = 5 chewing gum (Ans.)

Explanation:

Price of one chewing gum that Anish has bought = 1 / 8 = 0.125

Now to get a gain of 60%, the selling price for one chewing gum would be;

= 160% x 0.125

= 160/100 x 0.125 = 0.2

Number of chewing gums he should sell per rupee would be = 1/0.2 = 5

So in order to gain 60% profit, Anish should sell 5 chewing gums for one rupee
