Anita and Sunita two sisters cycle around a circular park every weekend.
On a particular day they both start cycling together at the same time at 7 a.m. but with different speeds.
Anita started at a speed of 8 km/hr and Sunita at the speedof 12 km /hr.
Assuming that their speeds remained the same through out while cycling around the park that has diameter 7 7/11 km
1) time taken my anita to complete a round
2) time taken my Sunita to complete a round
3)They both will meet again at the starting point after

Given: Time when Anita and Sunita start cycling together at the same time = 7 am

Anita's speed = 8 km/hr

Sunita's speed = 12 km/hr

The diameter of the park = 7 7/11 km

To find: 1) Time taken by Anita to complete a round

2) Time taken by Sunita to complete a round

3)They both will meet again at the starting point after

4)Time at which they both will meet

Solution: The diameter of the park 7 7/11 km can be written as 84/11 km.

Therefore, the distance travelled by both

= 2πr = 2 × 22/7 × 84(/11 × 2)

= 24 km.

1) Time taken by Anita to complete a round = distance/speed

= 24/8 hr

= 3 hrs.

2) Time taken by Sunita to complete a round = 24/12 hr

= 2 hrs.

3) For this question, we need to find the LCM of the time taken by both sisters to complete a round, that is, 3 and 2.

The LCM of 3 and 2 is 6.

Therefore, they both will meet again at the starting point after 6 hrs.

4) The time at which they will both meet at 7 am + 6 hours = 1 pm.

Answer: 1) 3 hours

              2) 2 hours

              3) 6 hours

              4) 1 pm
