Anitha was very happy when she gave birth to her first child. Her in laws were dissatisfied at her for not giving birth to a male child and blamed Anitha. Anitha tried to convince her in laws that she had no role in the child’s gender. They understood the biological reason, yet were not satisfied. Anita is not to be blamed as it was not her fault of not giving birth to a male child . We know that the gametes of the human(sperm and ovum) consists of 23 pair of chromosomes each. When they fuse together the resulting zygote has 46 pair of chromosomes which are from both the parents. for a girl child the chromosomes are arranged in XX Whereas for a boy it is arranged in the form of XY. so the father is the main parent for determination of the sex of the child because the male gamete contain both X and Y chromosomes which fuse with the ovum which consists of X chromosome. so therefore the father is the main parent for this problem. but the govt as also issued laws to overcome these problems in the society and also they have given a right to the women to give a complaint to the police station if she is obsessed by her in laws ....
