Since we have to find their present ages let

Anju and her mother's age be Y and X respectively.

Now, putting the provided data in equations.

Ratio of current age of X to Y = 3.5

X/Y =3.5

X= 3.5Y

Also, it is given that two years from the present the ratio of their age will become as 3.

(X+2)/(Y+2) =3

( X+2) = 3Y + 6

Therefore , we get two equations regarding the ratio of their ages. Substituting the value of X from the first equation into the second equation

=> X=3.5Y

Substituting it in second equation

=> (3.5 Y +2 )= 3Y +6

=> 3.5Y -3Y = 6-2

=> 0.5 Y =4

=> Y = 8

Therefore, we get that current age of Anju is 8 years.

Current age of Anju's mother = 3.5 Y = 3.5 × 8 =28 years
