The most popular form of transportation among tourists is rentals of scooters and motorcycles. Tourists prefer rentals of two-wheelers over other forms of transportation due to the low costs associated with renting two-wheelers. Over the past few years the number of accidents caused by two-wheelers has increased by 30%.
A number of residents have begun complaining about these accidents and are demanding a ban on two-wheeler rentals within Anjuna Village because a similar ban in a nearby village resulted in a reduction of two-wheeler accidents.
