The required probability is \dfrac{2}{5}.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

Ankit bought 2 packs of red pens, and each packs have 4 pens.

Total number of red pens = 8

He bought 1 pack of blue pens, and each pack have 3 pens.

Total number of blue pens = 3

He bought 3 packs of black pens, and each pack have 3 pens.

Total number of black pens = 9

The total number of pens are: 8+3+9=20

Probability = \frac{\text{Number of favorable outcomes}}{\text{Total number of outcomes}}

Probability = \dfrac{8}{20}

Probability = \dfrac{2}{5}

Hence, the required probability is \dfrac{2}{5}.
