The average profit per article sold is Rs. 1.47.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that,

The cost price of 1000 articles = Rs. 5 each

S. P. of 850 articles = Rs. 7 each

S.P. of rest articles i.e., (1000 – 850 =) 150 articles = Rs. 3.50 each

So, the total S.P. of 1000 articles = [850*7] + [150*3.5] = 5950 + 525 = Rs. 6475

The S.P. of each article will be = \frac{6475}{1000} = Rs. 6.47

Thus,

The average profit per article sold is,

= [S.P. per article] – [C.P. per article]

= Rs. 6.47 – Rs. 5

= Rs. 1.47
