let,

• age of Ankur be x years
• and age of Dolly be y years

according to the question;

( Ankur is 20 years older than Dolly)

• x = y + 20 ........(i)

after 5 years →

• age of Ankur = x + 5 years
• age of Dolly = y + 5 years

and according to the question;

( after 5 years, Ankur will be Twice as old as Dolly)

• x + 5 = 2(y + 5) ........(ii)

now, we have two equations

• x = y + 20 ........(i)
• x + 5 = 2(y + 5) ..........(ii)

substitute the value of x from (i) in (ii)

➪ x + 5 = 2(y + 5)

➪ (y + 20) + 5 = 2y + 10

➪ y + 20 + 5 = 2y + 10

➪ y + 25 = 2y + 10

➪ 2y - y = 25 - 10

➪ y = 15

now, substitute the value of y in eq.(i)

➪ x = y + 20

➪ x = 15 + 20

➪ x = 35

now we get,

• x = 35
• y = 15

hence, age of Ankur is 35 years and age of Dolly is 15 years
