Ankush cycles for x hours at 20 km/hr. He covers 20x km.
Then he cycles for y hours at 16 km/hr. He covers 16y km.
∴, 20x+16y=68 ------(1) and x+y=4 -------(2)
Multiplying (1) with 1 and (2) with 20 and then subtracting we have,
20x+16y=68
20x+20y=80
∴, -4y=-12
or, y=3
∴, x=4-y=4-3=1
∴, x=1, y=3 Ans.
Then he cycles for y hours at 16 km/hr. He covers 16y km.
∴, 20x+16y=68 ------(1) and x+y=4 -------(2)
Multiplying (1) with 1 and (2) with 20 and then subtracting we have,
20x+16y=68
20x+20y=80
∴, -4y=-12
or, y=3
∴, x=4-y=4-3=1
∴, x=1, y=3 Ans.
