Oh no, the common man is every bit as guilty; otherwise, people and nations would have rebelled long ago!" (May 3, 1944). So many say they never understood what was happening. How likely could that have been?

What Anne means is that she believes that if everyone would just cooperate together, war wouldn’t be so destructive. She means that by not trying to stop the war, you are as guilty as if you started the war and endorsed it.
