I feel she was trying to being honest when she made this statement. When the result day approached closer, everyone in her class made bets regarding who would go to the next class and who would not; most of the students in her class were not confident of making it to the next class. Most of them feared they might fail. So, on the basis of this observation, Anne made this statement.
