Let' say,

"R" → present age of Rohan

"A" → present age of Annika

Annika is 8 years older than rohan. So, we can form the equation as,

A = R + 8 . . . (1)

3 years ago:

Rohan's age = (R - 3) years

Annika's age = (A - 3) years

3 years ago, Annika was 3 times older than Rohan was then. So, we can form the equation as,

A - 3 = 3 (R - 3)

on substituting the value of A from equation (1), we get

⇒ R + 8 - 3 = 3R - 9

⇒ R + 5 = 3R - 9

⇒ 3R - R = 9 + 5

⇒ 2R = 14

⇒ R = 7 years

On substituting R = 7 in equation (1), we get

A = R + 8 = 7 + 8 = 15 years

Thus,

The present age of Rohan is → 7 years old.

The present age of Annika is → 15 years old.
