1.Introduction:

These lines are extracted from the lesson "Letter to His Son's Teacher" written by Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of United States of America. It is a letter written by Abraham Lincoln instructing the teacher of his son regarding the kind of education impart to a child.

Context:

Lincoln writes this words while giving instruction his son's teacher. He appeals to the teacher to treat him gently untill he get used to the school environment.

Explaination:

Lincoln mentions the embankment of a child undergoes he goes to the school for the first time. The child used to stay free at home by enjoying the love and affection of their parents and playing with the neighbouring childrens.Going to school and listening to teacher is too difficult for a child to follow. But soon,he get used to teacher and friends at the school.untill then teacher should be gentle and friendly towards him.So he appeals to the teacher to treat him soft untill he used to the school environment.

Critical comment:

These lines show how Lincoln understand the children's psychology. It is quite natural to complain against going to school for the first time. Hence Lincoln appeals sounds like a piece of advice to the teacher to remove the scarce of school.
