The annual expenses of A is Rs 5000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The ratio of annual expenses of A and B = 5 : 3

Let The annual expenses of A = 5 x

Let The annual expenses of B = 3 x

The ratio of saving of A and B = 1 : 2

Let The saving of A = y

Let The saving of B = 2 y

The income of A = Rs 8000

The income of B = Rs 9000

According to question

Income = expenditure + saving

For A

Rs 8000 = 5 x + y

i.e  5 x + y = 8000              .........1

For B

Rs 9000 = 3 x + 2 y

i.e 3 x + 2 y = 9000            .........2

Solving eq 1 and eq2

2 × ( 5 x + y ) - ( 3 x + 2 y ) = 2 × 8000 - 9000

Or. ( 10 x - 3 x) + ( 2 y - 2 y ) = 16000 - 9000

Or, 7 x + 0 = 7000

∴      x = \dfrac{7000}{7}

i.e  x = Rs 1000

So, The annual expenses of A = 5 × Rs 1000 = Rs 5000

And   The annual expenses of B = 3 × Rs 1000 = Rs 3000

Hence,  The annual expenses of A is Rs 5000  Answer
