HEY THERE!!
Anodizing is basically depositing a metal layer on another metal surface to prevent the surface from corroding. The process is called 'anodizing' because the metal surface to be treated is at the anode of the electrolytic cell.
Metals such as Zinc or sometimes any alloy (mixture of metals) is used to prevent metals such as Iron from rusting.

Answer:
The anodising process is so-named because the part to be treated acts as the anode in an electrical circuit. It involves immersing the metal to be anodised into a bath containing an acid electrolyte and a cathode. The metal to be coated becomes the anode and an electric current is passed through the acid bath.
