ANS. 2 V
c. The mass and weight of an object on
earth are 5 kg and 49 N respectively.
What will be their values on the
moon? Assume that the acceleration
due to gravity on the moon is 1/6th
of that on the earth.

Weight = m × g

Given, mass = 5 kg and weight = 49 N

Weight = Mass × Acceleration due to gravity

49 = 5 × g

g = 11.8 m/s²

g on moon = 1/6 × g of earth ( according to the question )

g on moon = 1/6 × 11.8

g on moon = 1.96 m/s²

Weight on moon = mass × g

Since Mass remains constant everywhere..

therefore , mass = 5 kg

weight on moon = 5 × 1.96

weight on moon = 9.8 Kg

ANSWER : 9.8 Kg
