In  \triangle ADC and  \triangle ADB,

(I) AD is common.

(II)  \angle ADB =  \angle ADC.

(III) BD = DC.

So,  \triangle ADC is congruent to  \triangle ADB.

So, AB = AC (by cpct).

Hence,  \triangle ABC is a isosceles triangle.
