If the blood flows through the heart twice for completing one circulation, it is called double circulation. Pulmonary circulation is present. Heart consists of three or four chambers. Double circulation occurs in frogs, reptiles, birds and mammals.
In this circuit deoxygenated blood from organs of body is collected into the right auricle and then sent into right ventricle. From right ventricle blood is pumped to the lungs. In the lungs blood is oxygenated and is returned to the left auricle by pulmonary vein.
In systematic circulation the oxygenated blood from the left auricle is pumped into the left ventricle. From the left ventricle blood is pumped into the systematic aorta. This aorta supplies blood to various organs of the body.
Hence it is called double circulation.
I hope this may help you.
