Evolution is an ongoing process. The life forms that we see today around us is the result of millions of years of evolution. The classification of species is in fact a reflection of their evolutionary relationship. Life forms have common ancestors. They are related to each other in different ways. The descendants are having certain common features with organisms of their levels. their ancestors can be traced back on the basis of common features. The more characteristics of 2 species will have in common, the more closely they are related and they are classified in same group. the more differences will indicate that they may distantly related and belong to different classes.
