H2 + CuO -- CuOH2

It's an example of redox rxn.

In the reactant side (hydrogen gas is passed over copper oxide and in the product side Copper hydroxide is formed. )

CuO+H2→ Cu+H2O

When hydrogen gas is passed over copper oxide, copper oxide is reduced to copper and hydrogen gets oxidized to H2O.
