We know power

p =  {v}^{2}  \div r

Where V is the voltage across the resistor

And r is the resistance of the resistor.

When they are in series I current pass though all the resistance and total resistance is 3r (ohm).

So P=(v^2)/(3r) (watt) =10 watt

But when they are in parallel combination the total resistance is r/3.

So power P=(v^2)/(r/3) (watt).

=3(v^2)/r

=9(v^2)/(3r)

=9*10 watt

=90 watt
