Answer:

6. Distilled water cannot conduct electricity because it does not contain ions while rain water conducts electricity as it contains ions due presence of dissolved salts in it.

7. sour substances are cidic in nature,i.e, they have acids in them. So, when they are kept in brass or copper vessels, they react with them and form poisonous or better to say toxic elements which may prove harmful for human body. So they are not kept in metal containers.

Answer:

Hey there!! I will give you your answer!!

I really love science and chemistry

And I will help you with full explanation!

Step-by-step explanation:

So, let us answer your question.

1)Rain water conducts electricity, whereas distilled water does not. Why?

Ans. So, This phenomenon happens due to the fact that rain water has gone through all the different stages of the water cycle in the atmosphere such as condensation, evaporation and finally precipitation, where it falls as rain water. So, during this process, the pure water from the seas , lakes or Rivers get positively charged ions. So, these ions conduct electricity, which is why rain water conducts electricity. But, it the case of distilled water, it is fully pure and clean, thus it is free of the ions . So, without the ions it wont be able to conduct electricity. This is why Rain water conducts electricity, whereas distilled water does not.

2)Why dont we keep sour substances in brass and copper vessels?

Ans. So, the answer of this would be that since most sour substances are usually acids( acids are sour in taste, and the latin word for acids which is acere , also means sour.

Now, this acids corrode easily with metals and if consumed , it can have disastorous side effects. Thus, we dont keep sour substances in brass and copper vessels.
