x:y:z = 2:3:5

x+y+z =100

x = 100 × 2/10 = 20

y = 100 × 3/10 = 30

z = 100 × 5/10 = 50

y = ax - 10

30= a × 20 - 10

20a = 40

a = 2

bubbles15: u'll get all your answers
rashmimote: OK means whenever proportional number like here 2 is given that we have to divide by 10 and multiple by sum???
bubbles15: No 10 is the given value
bubbles15: let me make this question more easier for you to understand it properly....
bubbles15: suppose a value constant in this question is 'k'. Now, the sum 100= x+y+z... we know the proportional values of x,y and z, and we have a value constant which is in the given question is 10. so, k=10 multiply with that .... i.e, 100 = k(2+3+5).... now we know those are proportional so 2k= 20, 3k=30, 5k =50...... Now from question... y= ax -10... put the values and u will get the answer.
bubbles15: if u are confused from previous answer try to solve it like this... it is easier than that...
bubbles15: The numbers x, y, z are respectively proportional to 2, 3, 5 and the sum of x, y and z is 80. If the number z is given by the equation z = ax-8, then a is
bubbles15: give this question a try by using both method..... I hope this will help u
rashmimote: thank you very much uhhh..... it really really helped me
bubbles15: wlcm ☺️
