Moment of inertia of disc about and axis passing through centre and perpendicular to plane = MR²/2

Useing perpendicular axis theorem,

Ix + Iy = Iz

Ix = Iy = MR²/4

Moment of inertia of disc about and axis passing through centre and perpendicular to plane = Ix = MR²/4

Using Parallel Axis Theorem,

I = I(cm) + Md²

I = MR²/4 + MR²  = 5MR²/4
