Answer:
Explanation:
Overprotective parents think that they are doing a favor for their children by keeping them safe without realizing that this parenting style has severe effects on children such as robbing them the essential life skills that they need in order to have a healthy personality and to face life problems.
The dangers and the bad effects of over protection are far bigger than a parent could imagine and that's why i decided to write this post to to tell overprotective parents how do they affect their children.
How over protective parents affect their children?
An over protective parent sends an unconscious message to the child telling him that the world is not a safe place.
As a result of this parenting style the child grows up into an adult who fears to take risks. That child might live his life in the comfort zone he was taught to live in even if his life was miserable and even if stepping out of this zone would make him happier.
Over protective parenting also has a bad effect on a child's self esteem. As a result of preventing the child from taking charge he starts to think that he is not capable of facing life on his own and thus his self esteem deteriorates.
In the Solid Self confidence program i said that both pampering and the over protection done by parents are among the factors that can ruin a child's self esteem and that can have a severe effect on his self image.
As a result of being raised by over protective parents many children turn into rebels who refuse to take orders from anyone. This might make them turn into stubborn adults who have problems conforming to rules in school or work.
Never be an overprotective parent else your child will suffer
As a result of overprotective parenting the child who has a low self esteem and who fears taking risks is likely to live his whole life in a safe corner. He would never attempt to do anything that he is not familiar with because that will appear unsafe to him.
After knowing about these bad effects it makes a lot of sense to never be overprotective If you want to raise confident children. Just let the child explore his world while keeping an eye on him so that you can help him when he is in need.
