Decantation is a method which follows sedimentation. Once the solid has completely settled down, the clear liquid above is poured out leaving behind the insoluble heavy solid particles.

Filtration on the other hand is a more sophisticated approach of separation of a solid and liquid. Here a filter paper is used to filter the insoluble solid particles from a mixture of solid and liquid.  

Out of all the above mentioned techniques, filtration is a much better and sensitive approach for separation of a mixture of solid and liquid. This is so because it can be used to separate even smaller solid particles, which may not completely settle down with sedimentation. At the same time, during decantation, there is a chance of the particles mixing back in the liquid. Filtration technique can be used to overcome this as well.

Thus, filtration is better than sedimentation and decantation.
