The charge should be positive.

Use Fleming’s left hand rule.

You know the direction of magnetic field is towards your right is your index finger points towards your right.

Direction of force or direction of Patrice is out of the plane ie you thumb points towards you.

Your index finger which shows direction of current now points downwards just the way it is in the diagram.

We know that the direction in which a positive charge goes is the direction of current.

Hence the charged particle is positive.
