Answer:

AB^2 = BC^2 - AC^2

= 13^2 - 12^2

= 169 - 144

= 25

AB = √25 = 5 cm

Area of ∆ABC = (1/2)*(base)*(height)

= (1/2)* AB * AC. (angle A is 90°)

= (1/2)*5*12

= 30 sqcm

area.of ∆ABC = 30

(1/2)*base*height = 30

base*height = 60

13*height = 60. (for height AD, BC is base)

AD = 60/13
